SNOW DAYS

I uploaded the video again since some could not see it, check it out if you weren't able to before.

January 29th - 31st: The most unusual thing happened on Friday in TN. We had snow and lots of it. Work closed early for both David and I, while Avery's daycare closed early as well. By late Friday afternoon we had about 2-3 inches and it kept snowing. We took Avery outside to play in the snow and she had a great time. She had a fit when we told her it was time to go inside. By that evening you couldn't tell we had been outside b/c our foot prints were covered up with fresh snow. We didn't venture out on Saturday b/c it was so cold. However, David and I started going stir crazy being couped up in the house. After about 6 episodes of Agent OSO and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse we decided the TV needed to be turned off.

Therefore we proceeded to have story time (which was me reading to David as Avery ran around), clean up time (which was me picking up all the DVDs while Avery put one away and pulled out 3), exercise time (me chasing Avery around the house and then her chasing me) and color time (me coloring while Avery tore the crayons in half). Today we had had enough. We took a walk in the neighborhood to see how the roads were. They were a little icy but not bad so we decided to venture out. Once out of the neighborhood it wasn't bad so we went to publix for milk and to McDonald's for lunch.

I have always wanted to have a big snow so I wouldn't have to go to work. Now I can't wait to get back to work so I can rest! Now I know why my Dad isn't a big fan of snow. :) Enjoy the pictures from our snowy adventures.

Avery resting after running around in the snow Friday.

She really didn't want to come in even though she was cold and wet.

Getting ready to go out in the snow on Sunday. Avery doesn't have a scarf so I put one of mine on her. She kept saying it was hot, but isn't she adorable in it?

TRIP TO NC

January 15th - 18th: We made a quick trip home to see my Dad, a late birthday present for his 60th! Avery experienced her second plane ride and it was no problem. She tried to talk to everyone and only kicked the seat in front of her a handful of times. On the way back she got her own seat and thought she was such a big girl, even though she wanted to spend most of the time on her feet talking to the passengers behind her. Below are some pictures from our trip.

The weather was nice on Sunday so we took Avery and her cousin Brianna to the park. The girls had fun going down the slides and swinging.

The Diamond family all dressed in red for the NCSU vs. Clemson basketball game. It was Avery's first wolfpack game and I think she really enjoyed it. She liked both teams because she clapped for both teams.

The Diamond family plus my Dad standing in front of the pack of wolves, which is in front of the football field. I sure do miss attending all the state football and basketball games.

Avery and her Grandpa. I have always been a sports fan, especially basketball. How could you not love it when you grow up in NC with so many great basketball programs in such close proximity. I have so many fond memories of watching all kinds of sports with my Dad. One of my favorite memories is that my Dad would take my sister and I to the flea market right before the ACC tournament and we could pick out a sweatshirt of our favorite team to wear while we watch the game. My Dad used to tell us if we would rub our sweatshirt that our team would start playing better. I sure hope Avery becomes a sports fan and has precious memories like I do.

UNDRESS

January 9th - I always knew this day would come. I'd heard stories about this happening, wondering when it would happen to us. We put Avery down for her nap today hoping to get a couple of hours of relaxation. Avery had other plans. She wasn't in the mood to sleep so she played until she started crying. When I went to get her I busted out laughing when I saw her. Of course this made her laugh.

Believe it or not Avery went to bed in a one piece PJ outfit. You know the kind with the feet attached. Well this is how I found her....naked except for her diaper and her outfit in the floor. She thought it was really funny.

SNOW

January 7th - Well TN was due some snow since every other state was getting record breaking levels of snow. It was predicted that we would get 2-3" but it turned out we only got about 3/4". Needless to say I was sad because I still had to go to work and Avery had to go to fun place. We did take her in the snow when we got home. At first she didn't want anything to do with it but then she cried when I made her go inside because it was cold.

She wouldn't touch the snow.

WELCOME 2010

January 1st - Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Years Eve. David and I actually stayed up and rang in the new year. For the last couple of years we have stayed at home. We put Avery to bed, built a fire, ordered a pizza, drank some wine and watched a movie. It was a nice evening and I was glad I was not out in the cold. I did try to see the blue moon but it was very cloudy in Smyrna so I missed out on seeing it. As is our tradition we had our New Years Day meal with my Big Grandma. This year was special because my Dad and Ann were able to be here with us. For good luck we eat the following: Southern style - black eyed peas, hog jaw, baked apples and biscuits German style - kraut and kielbasa. It was good and for the first time Avery got to eat the food. She's not a fan of kraut but I know she will become one since most of my family like it. As is also my tradition I made a resolution. My resolution this year is to treat others as I would want to be treated. It sounds so simple but can actually be hard at times. I am going to try really hard this year to be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and granddaughter.

I hope everyone has very happy and prosperous 2010, may it be better than 2009.
