ADVENTURES IN PARENTING PART 3

September 11th - And the saga continues. As you know from other posts, Avery is not sleeping in her toddler bed. Some nights she goes back to bed screaming and some nights she goes back voluntarily. On Saturday morning she ran into the couch and complained that her face hurt. David checked her out and noticed her ear was draining massive amounts of fluid (not good in a toddler who has reoccurring ear infections). We immediately called the pediatrician and they told us to bring her in as soon as we could. The doctor cleaned out her ear twice and still was unable to see in her ear canal. "Her ear is definitely infected and her ear drum may have ruptured. I can't tell since I am unable to see with all the drainage. Let's put her back on antibiotics and drops".

Avery has had a runny nose and cough since we went to NC a month ago. We couldn't tell she was sick because she never ran a fever or acted sick. I'm really hoping her ear hasn't been infected the entire time and burst due to to the pressure. Could this be why she hasn't been sleeping through the night?

Saturday night we gave her the antibiotic and drops and she only got up once (12:30) and went back to bed easily. So do you think David and I got a full nights sleep last night? Nope, we both kept waiting for her to wake up. Here's to hoping we all get a better nights sleep tonight.

POTTY

September 10th - David and I have been waiting for the glorious day when Avery would finally do something on the potty. She really enjoys sitting on the potty but that is all she does, well she also likes to put toilet paper in the bowl and flush it. I picked her up from the daycare at the YMCA and they nonchalantly told me that she went pee pee on the potty. "What", I said. I got all excited and praised Avery. She was also really excited. Then I got a little sad that I missed this huge moment. Then the other morning I was reading her daycare sheet from the previous day and saw that she went pee pee on the big girl toilet there as well. Again I praised her and she was again all excited. Now if she will only do it when I'm around so I can witness it.

NEW LOOK

As you may notice our blog has a new look. It is still under construction but I wanted to draw your attention to the right side. Under other blogs to check out is the diamond family photo site. I have added recent pictures and hope to keep it updated regularly. So check it out often.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND

September 4th - 8th: This labor day was such a blast. My sister came down from NYC to visit and we had such a good time. On Saturday we went to Chattanooga for the day. It was the perfect day to go because it was in the low 80s with no humidity and a nice breeze. With labor day comes birthday's; mine is on the 7th and David's is on the 8th. On Sunday we started the day at the Pfunky Griddle, a place where you cook your own breakfast, and ended the day with dinner with our good friends Lisa and Brian to celebrate our birthdays. Sunday we met my Grandparents for lunch in honor of our birthdays. Finally, we celebrated our actual birthday's on Tuesday and Wednesday. We've been so blessed to drag out the celebration, at least I have, I'm sure David would have loved to stop after one day. Below are some pictures of our celebrations.

The Diamond family on the pedestrian bridge in Chattanooga. It was a great day for a walk.

Avery eating ice cream during our celebration with my Grandparents. You should of seen her face light up when the waiter brought it to her.
