ADVENTURES IN PARENTING PART 2

August 17th - Since Avery and I went to NC she has not been sleeping well, and hence neither have I. On Tuesday the 17th Avery managed to climb out of her crib 3x without making a sound or crying. I have to say she is very smart. We made her go back to bed after the first time so each time instead of coming into our room she went on the couch. After that exhausting night (little did we know what was ahead of us) we decided it was time to convert her crib into a big girl bed. Ever since she has gotten into her big girl bed she has not slept and keeps getting out every 3-4 hours, if we are lucky that she will even go to sleep. David and I feel like new parents who are sleep deprived. Avery began sleeping through the night at 6-8 weeks old and has handled all transitions with little fuss. I guess it is my turn to suffer. So please think about us as you sleep all night and hope that we will some day soon.

We let Avery pick out her new big girl sheets, comforter and pillow. She gets really excited when you mention her big girl bed but sticks out her bottom lip when you mention her actually sleeping all night in it.

ADVENTURES IN PARENTING PART 1

August 7th - 15th: I had to go to NC for business so I decided to spend the entire week. I took Avery and we made a girls trip out of it. This trip really taught me some lessons in parenting. Avery has become such a Daddy's girl and it was a bad idea to take her away from her Daddy for 8 days. While we were in NC Avery got to spend time with all her Grandparents. We ended the trip by spending two days in Myrtle Beach, SC. This was Avery's second trip to the beach but the first time getting to play in the ocean. Below are some pictures from our trip.

Avery and I in Myrtle Beach, SC the night we got there. It was such a nice night for a walk on the beach.

Avery playing in the sand. She really enjoyed sitting on the shore and letting the water wash over her. She did get a little upset when she got too much sand on her feet. It reminded me of me, since I don't like to get real dirty.

It stormed Thursday night so we went to the Aquarium. I think Avery enjoyed watching the fish.

BACK PACK

August 1st - In less than a week Avery and I are headed to NC, just us girls. I'm a little nervous to fly with her without David. We thought it would be a good idea to get her a back pack so she can carry her own things onto the plane and I won't have too (at least that is how I have it pictured in my head). We gave it to her today to see if she would like it. She loved it. She immediately filled it with books and ran around the house with it on.

FIST BUMP

July 24th - Funny Avery story. Avery and Lisa were playing in the backseat of the car on the way home from the zoo. Lisa asked Avery to give her a high five. Instead Avery made a fist and said something like fist bump. Not sure where she got that from (not David or I). So don't think Avery is trying to punch you if you see her making a fist.

ICE DAY AT THE ZOO 2010

July 24th - Our annual trip to the zoo for ice day. We had so much fun last year that we decided to brave the heat again this year. This year was a little different from last year. Last year Avery stayed in her stroller most of the time, this year she rode it in for maybe 3 minutes. We didn't get any pictures of animals because Avery didn't slow down long enough for me to take any. Below are some pictures from the zoo.

Avery having a fit at the tiger feeding. I really wanted to see the zoo keepers feed the tigers while Avery wanted to do something else. Guess who won?
Ice Day is fun because they have ice sculptures in the animal exhibits, they feed the animals popsicles and have free ice cream and activities for the kids. Avery and Daddy with an ice sculpture.
